Default Purpose of Breeding Animals

Why do you breed the animals. I can buy an adult for much less, it only has a chance of succeeding, and it doesn't appear that I can sell the offspring. So what exactly is the purpose? I've searched the forums but can't find an answer to my question. Thank you.

Breeding animals is the only way to get your pens to full capacity, which raises your popularity and visitors. It may not be noticeable yet, but once you have a lot of pens, not having babies will keep your meter from reaching full capacity.

Thanks for the quick response. One other question, do the babies grow up? Or do I need to purchase more animals to fill the pens?

As of right now, babies will always stay babies, so you won't need to buy anymore pens for them, or buy more animals for the pen.
