Forum Competition - World Tortoise Day

Hey Zoo Directors

To help our tortoises/turtles and our other animals celebrate World Tortoise/Turtle Day on 23 May, we have decided to have a forum competition.

Write a piece of poetry about your tortoises/turtles in your zoo, What are they doing, what do they get up to, what are they saying to each other and their friends ? The possibilities are endless – it's your choice. Just be creative, be humorous – but make sure it is all your own work.

Duration

The competition will be open from 12 Noon CET on Saturday 19th May until 12 Noon on Thursday 24th May Please make sure your entries are submitted during this period.

Content

The form and style of your poem is up to you, it does not even have to rhyme, of course, not all poems do, but do keep it enjoyable and easy to read. We do realise that some of our forum users are young children and some do not have English as their first language, so although we should appreciate it if you could use correct spellings, punctuation and grammar you would not be penalised if such things went mildly astray.

Entries should be at least 5 lines in length (as in a limerick) and no more than 32 lines. As a guide only, a single line in our forum threads would be a maximum of 12 to 16 words.

Post your entries below here in this thread – but do check out the rules as we don't want any of you to be disappointed because your entry is not allowed.

The Prizes

1st Prize: All 6 assistants for 3 days
2nd Prize All 6 Assistants for 2 day
3rd Prize All 6 Assistants for 1 day

The Competition Rules

All entries are bound by normal forum rules. In particular you must remember that we have a friendly forum that is read by young children. Any entry that does not observe these forum rules will be invalid and may be deleted and/or the poster issued with an infraction penalty
Only one entry per person
Entries must be your own work, not borrowed wholly or in part from any other published work.
Entries must be within the required minimum and maximum lengths
Entries must be submitted within the stated time allowed, even if the thread is not closed at the end of the stated time.
All entries are to be written in English language only
All entries must include your unique user ID number. Also please include your username exactly as used to sign in to your game, this may not be the same as your forum name.

All entries must conform to the rules above to be classed as valid. We regret that any entry that does not adhere to the rules will be deemed invalid and will not be considered for any prize.

All valid entries will be scrutinized by a panel of judges, made up from your ZooMumba Team. The judges' decision will be final and no correspondence, regarding winners and allocation of prizes, will be entered into.

Winners will be advised here in the thread and prizes awarded as soon as possible after the close of the competition.

All that remains to be said is – enjoy the competition – have fun and good luck!

I hope you like my poem..

The tortoise is a happy breed
Love and cuddles is what they need
They've been around a long, long time
and asked me for this little rhyme

They stroll along around our zoos
Listening out for all the news
Passing it on to all their mates
What's going on, on future dates

Growing families and hoping maybe
Congratulations on a new born baby
Mummy and little one both doing well
Daddy dazed with pride, tales to tell

At end of day tortoises chill out
A good day's work, all agree no doubt
We want to celebrate their day today
Happy World Tortoise Day, hip hip hooray

Hi this is my poem. I hope you like it.

I have five giant turtles
They are very adorable

They live in my zoo
and really love the food

They eat all the fruits
and look so cute

They drink water a lot
and live in places that's hot.

My turtles are so playful
and they are very cool

Turtles love cuddles
and love to play with bubbles

They live for very long
And will stay very strong

Today is World Tortoise Day
so happy World Tortoise Day!

Hey there,

Well after much consideration we have come to a decision here. Both entries really are wonderful and it shows to the judges that not only do you love your game but you love your tortoises/turtles too.

The poems are of a entirely different format - which makes it so hard to choose. We even considered flipping a coin! However, we have decided! The awards are as follows:-

Chrissy - Joint 1st Prize - all 6 assistants for 3 days
Puppy - Joint 1st Prize - all 6 assistants for 3 days

Congratulations to you both, and thank you for making the effort. Your prizes will be awarded very shortly
