Here is what we might need to make this game more realistic since we have asteroids, where are our moons? Something that could possibly improve production or have large natural shield that can be destroyed and become space rubble!
I know this idea would get shot down? But common, where is the realism of your space environment that could be used as defensive structure while having a small 10 building zone to extend your planets limit?
You could even use a tractor beam or something - another idea folks, someone go for it!
The moon would serve as a extension to your planets resources, defense structure and a extended building limit. The moon could easily be wiped off the face of the map by a powerful fleet or be mined out of material causing it to break or crash into your planet.
I got this idea from the Time Machine and I think it would be interesting if we had something like this? Good Idea or Bad, any suggestions to improve or add upon?

before you get shot down, how do you get a moon? fields 10? 3 pig 5 fushoin 1 fleet and a krypton?
your idea's need more work before posting, stops it getting ripped appart from the start. You want people to thing "not bad idea" were first thoughts are as stated above.

yes if you make clear what is the purpose, as i stated 10 fields is useless to most, so straight away they will say no, now if you get 30-40 No at the begining, the chances are it won't even be put forward. So you need to get peoples intrest from the off.

DarkWolf, your enthusiasm is great, but slow your roll a moment lol.
First, the Moon consept has been hashed out several times befor. Sadly though, it was on the old beta and pre-beta boards, so you wouldn't know that would you? Okay, heres the jist of the two 'Moon' ideas that were sent to the coders.
The Shookk
This was named after the player that came up with the idea. YOu can find SOME reference to it on these boards with a search. The shookk, basiclly, was a 'moon like construct' that a player could use a a kind of mobil fleet base. It could be attacked, destroyed, ect. It wasn't a fleet carrier, you would base fleet on it just like a planet or 'roid.
The Orbital Command Center
This verion of the Moon idea was a bit diffrent, and closer to what you have suggested. YOu would build an OCC on your planet, taking up a field like every other building. But, after spending 1 planet field on the OCC, you would get an artifical Moonlet with 2 fields. You could only build weapons factories and fleet bases on it though. Every planet field you used on the OCC gave 2 fields on the Moonlet.
Any other ideas for Moons, space bases, ect will most likly just be rejected out of hand.

Most people go for 300 fields on a planet because they need the space.
Anything the size of an asteroid will be useless at best. I like the idea of a lunar weapons factory. I'll shut up and sit tight for a while and see where this goes.

The idea of having a storage depot, be it an asteroid or a moon, has merit - particularly for the raider who wishes to keep 2 of his 10 planet slots open for establishing raiding colonies. For that purpose, having two fields to support a pair of Fleet slots is adequate.

i agree save mabye more like 5 to 15 Slots depending on siz of the moon.
Oh, quick idea, some planets could have multiple moons, of course the more moons the smaller they would each be. Moons could also sever as partical shields since it has to go throgh them before it hits the planet. The same for attacking fleets. This could make things intesting, as long as it doesn't become a coding headace.
