Default Patrol Ship with prototype tech

The Patrol Ship

The basis of the Patrol Ship should be sent with a fleet or alone to investigate to bring back the information that is needed. Unlike the galaxy scanner that relies on a vast attack zone, the patrol ship relies the distance it travels while looking around for that fleet or through the investigation of the attacker.

The PS relies on encountering the fleet from a distance rather than avoiding it and can still be attacked thus having the PS to defend itself or try to escape from the hostile zone.

Technology Requirements

Spy Technology [Level 10]

Energy Technology [Level 8]

Targeting Systems [Level 3]

Diffusion Engine [Level 6]



Data

Scan Range [1/2 AZ]:

The Scan Range could be improved with research development.

Cargo Space [200 -750 or 1250]

Speed: Pending



Effect on SI


This will allow players to find fleets according to the range limit and giving the planets more of a use by adding a new option button to allow a passing scan of the area. Thus giving more strategies to be given out and the chances of receiving messages about the near by fleet or parts of the fleet.



Conclusion

I thought this idea well out, So please tell me what you think and what can we improve on this idea of mine to make this happen? If not, what is bad about this idea and explain!

Cargo space needs to be much larger for fuel. You need to use some really numbers. If you're having trouble figuring out the numbers, press the 'Show Base Data' button on the ship you want to mimic in the weapon's factory. Although I doubt those suggestions will get you anywhere. There are already two new ships on their way as well as a new battle system, this would be near superfluous.

The idea of an undetectable mobile galaxy scanner is what a lot of people will find ludicrous.

It's litterally a galaxy scanner, that works slower and costs less.

a converted spy probe , one use only ,requiring a huge amount of spice to send,, increasing for every solar system you check, prehaps limiting its ability to only the target planet

That signature hurts the eyes. Ow. And it somehow got included in the quote. What were we talking about again? Ah yes, the mini galaxy scanner with a cheap but fast engine.

The nice thing about the galaxy scanner is that it will scan fleet movements to and from 16 planets per solar system. This is nice.

If this probe needs to be built and resent for each planet, it's going to be a very time-consuming process... for return that is even less guaranteed than the GS. And as we all have heard from the big boys, the GS doesn't churn out very much.

i think the carrier would do well,,

One; as subterfuge,

Two; as a better armored Transmitter, with slightly better offense.

Three, The whole glory of a Carrrier , in real life ,was that it took out Capitol ships with Dive Bombers,,,, it would be nice to have Dive Bombers to go with the Carrier
I think to combat the number crunch of carrier versus battle ship,,,, the carrier should be a given a rediculous defense number, to represent its fighter screen.

Four,, Carriers can move fleet , to station,,, fooling Galaxy scanner. You would never know whats in those Carriers. You could send empty carriers,,, and full ones,, to fool opponent.

Five , Will be mystery when multi attacking an opponent, confusing where your main fleet is,

Six, Would act to hide fleet when orbiting planet,

Seven, Would open up a reason to build Starcruiser and warships , because you can fit so many in side a Carrier,

In short ,, i would like to be more than a two ship fleet, There should be advantages to every ship in this game. Not Noob ships.

Of course all these things have been said by the numerous people who've posted threads about carriers.

If you'd like me to flame the idea a little bit more, feel free to open your own thread on it... if I have time to read it before the mods hit the close button. Just, not here, because it's getting off topic.

More or less the only thing that this thing adds is confusion to the game. It's kind of nice to know what's coming. Part of the action in the game is making ninja's and intercepts, but if people don't even know what they're up against, they'll simply run away and hits will become even more rare.

Also, other ships will have a purpose when the new battlescript comes out.

And, yes, it's going to be a while.

And, no, they can't make another ship come out before then.

That's just the problem with keeping a game simple. If ships have a hull, a shield and one shot per round, it's hard to make them unique. The thread maker here tried to make it unique, and it turned out to be an overpowered galaxy scanner available to everyone everywhere.

The carrier idea has been shot down many times and I for one have suggested that several times, even a mobile ship factory was shot down. I would like to see what Royal would think about this idea....

The reason I choose a The Patrol Ship is the fact that such ships exist here on earth. They were used through out the world wars and such a piece of history hasn't died. The ability to contain torpedoes with a mounted gunship turret and be the little sister of a destroyer is something that we all know and love.

It could be half the size of a destroyer and be able to transport. The entire idea of a mobile galaxy scanner as a prototype would give this game an interesting appeal. Be able to to detect thing from a short distance while it travels is a brilliant idea in my eyes.

I took along time to develop this concept! X3 I feel better that I did something, rather than nothing.

I'm still not so happy with the idea of making a mobile galaxy scanner. People's fleets won't stand a chance. They hardly do now in some places. Leave the galaxy scanning to the galaxy scanner.
