What are they used for other than counting services of that buddy?...can they ever be redeemed for anything?

A few of mine are well in the thousand...do the roll over once they hit 999,999 since it doesn't appear to be enough space for another digit . . . .

At this point they are simply a way of measuring your Buddies exchanges.

We assume that the counter will keep on going as it does for cash which just shows you the last digits after you reach 10 Million.

You can find how many buddy points (hearts) you share with a buddy on the Buddy's list pane below each buddy's flag. The amount of buddy points you share with a buddy increases that buddy's ranking in your buddy list. Also, I understand that having more buddy points increases your chances of receiving the more rare souvenirs from that buddy.
