View Full Version : Engineering Bay Discussion Thread
Greetings Airport Managers,
This thread is for you to discuss the Engineering Bay feature.
Regards,
First off, very cool!! A new aspect of the game, and a feature (free scrapping) that people have been begging for!! Way to go Bigpoint!!!! http://en.board.bigpoint.com/skyrama/images/icons/icon14.gifhttp://en.board.bigpoint.com/skyrama/images/icons/icon14.gifhttp://en.board.bigpoint.com/skyrama/images/icons/icon14.gif
Now, a question: I find that when someone sends me a Rama XS Quickie I typically have about 3 mins to service it. Not a problem if there's a small handful. Now, with these time upgrades, will that be shaving time off the time I have to service the plane? If so, I have no plans to upgrade any of my 6 min planes, as it will make it much harder for them to get serviced and result in fewer buddy points. Especially since I typically send a wave of planes, not just 1 or 2.

I think it just takes off transit time to the other player and back not the time you have to service.
Usually I miss out on the small fast planes if I got a lot to service. It's just minor issue. Some people don't even bother to service them.
Since I have no way of knowing which planes sent to me are upgraded or not, I'm sending an upgraded WonderQuickie and a regular XS Quickie to players along with a flyby request to let me know if there is a difference in service time. We'll find out one way or another....
If you'd like to participate in this little experiment, send a Buddy Req and/or a flyby to me, I'll send you the "Matched Set" of planes.
Great addition to the game.
One question though if I may. (or 2)
Is everything set to random?
Sometimes I get more of the blue assembly kits than others.
Also how do I go about getting the deluxe assembly kit?
They seem to be a lot harder to get my hands on!

What plane upgrade requires the deluxe assembly kit?
The reason you get more of the blue toolkit is because it's used a lot so you require a lot more of it then the other tool kits.
As for the deluxe I think the planes that require the longest trip times tend to give it out more. A plane that takes 12 hours for a trip is more likely to get a deluxe then say a five minute plane trip.
The upgrade engine has a nice little rocket effect on the planes as they take off. Wonder if the other upgrades have a noticeable animation effect on the planes.

Nice touch but it's really expensive.
Hey guys, just wondering why I can't tune my Rama-M-Cargo at the first level. I have all the requirements - money, tools etc, but the Tune button is grayed out.

Check that your plane is in the hangar. Planes must be in the hangar to be upgraded.
You do get an occasional pleasant surprise. I accidentally landed a cash cow and was pleased to discover that it often brings upgrade parts

These days, cash cows are pretty much the only planes other than my own that I land at my airport *sigh*. It sucks not having anyone send you planes...
It seemingly takes forever to gather parts for a rama-m-turbo, though.

Seeing how your question never has been answered:
Yes! Optimized planes have shorter time to be serviced. I tried to counteract that with additional runways and service pads so I wouldn't have those planes time out while waiting for a free spot.

Who are you directing this to??

Are there any tips or things to look out for when trying to collect parts for engineering bays? I think it is a great feature, but have no idea how to collect them.
Such as:
Which planes collect which part?
Any difference in sending planes to buddies?
Or is everything random?
Do you think engineering parts could get added to the lucky wheel you spin each day?
PS - feel free to add me as a buddy.
Thanks
