why dose it seem there is more traps than treasure?

Shinnies are randomly generated on the map. You have to factor in that some shinnies are being picked up by other players as well

I noticed that last night there were a lot more shineys than I'd seen before but that most of them were traps, I must have hit about 20 of them.
Does anyone know if BP has changed the programming / spawn rate at all ?
