How does the light of Totuga work. Am I invisible to all others? Do I have to activate it? How long does it last? I just got it and was sunk by another ship looked like he new exactly where I was. Any help would be appreciated.

The light of tortuga starts as soon as you buy it, and last til you shoot something. You will know if light is working because your ship will have a green glow.

The light makes your ship invisible to all other players, npc's and islands.
But not being seen is not quite the same as being undetected. If another player moves his cursor over your ship it will turn into a hand. (try it on a monster or npc you'll see what I mean) They can click and shoot you then. Usualy the tip off is if you take a shiney they were headed towards, they see it disapear and know sombody is under the light. So its a good idea to keep moving and not stay in one spot too long. The light will last until you fire a cannon or a harpoon. If your under light and get shot run. If you shoot back you loose the light. If you get sunk under the light it will still be there when you come back.

if you are under the light, and somebody is shooting at you, try to change maps, that way they loose you, or run into a guild-island... they will get shot by the towers, and you will survive.
Never shoot back if you dont want to loose the light.

Yeah even if ya happen to get detected and get shot and sunk as long as you dont fire back, you will keep the light! Not me though!!! Someone shoots me the light goes bye bye!!! lol

  With the Light of Tortuga, your ship will be invisible to your enemies.
  Note: Only until you engage in aggressive behavior . f/e attack a monster, NPC or another player or try to cap them.
  
  You are invisible not invinceable...
  Other players will be able to scroll their mouse cursor over your invisible ship and it will indicate that you are there... at time they can target on you and shoot at you. Even when you are sunk you will come back on the water with your light if you have not fired back.
  
  This item is bought in the bazaar/Market Cove
  Note: when you have the light on the item will not be in the inventory of the bazaar/Market Cove .
  
  This item will not go into the bonus maps nor the jackpot battles. It will return on you once you are no longer participating in those activities.

The questions been answered however when you are detected you are better off leaving the map this is because if the player has locked onto and you escape as long as you are both in the same map and the attacking player has not attacked any type of ship and you pass him say 5 mins later his/her fire button will still flash and they can still shoot you. The best npc to get under is a tiamat its lethal against visible ship it becomes yr bodyguard islands are excellent as well however in both situations i will still attack you even in the island. The other option is the map change which always works or to f5. Never get greedy and always check your battle map for other players you can whilst under light attack another player who is under light lol
