Hi,
First off I like to tell you about me, I have been on Big Point since 2006, also was a chat/forum mod (for Big Point). And definatley spent way to much money on these games, but enjoyed every second of it.

The role of a moderator is to mediate. Be a diplomat and to resolve issues in the most friendly possible way. Be an example to the community. And to remember the forums is for the players.

Out of all the Big Point forums, this one is the most abused forum/chat by mods. There is no place in the forums to question, complain, any bans or violations. (exept game chat in the forums) There are no explainations or ban length given to the players. Either in the forums or email. No appeal process or procedure. The only response is Contact Customer Care. I'm sure Customer Care loves all the messages, that could have been resolved at the forum level. Or a warning in chat to remind players of the rules. (I understand some actions in chat reqire no warning)

Now I've read a lot of post here. And it's all the same follow the rules, no warnings. I say read and follow your own rules.

First is closing a post and assigning an infraction for Arguments (which there is no rule for arguments).
Forum rules state:


Warning: Spamming shouldn't be confused with trash talk, which is, of course, allowed in the forum designated for this type of post such as the open forum, entertainment thread groups, etc.

So there is places for trash talk. But nothing is marked as designated or non designated trash talking topics. But if a conversation violates the Verbal altercation or threats rule, then invoke the correct rule.

Next is closing threads because of complaints telling them to contact Customer Care.
Forum rule state:

Complaints
The game thrives off of you and the whole community. Your opinion and feedback are therefore very important to us and very welcome. We also look at complaints as a good chance to cater to the needs of users in the future.

I see a lot of threads closed for complaining. Which causes the same subject in a new thread to be started and closed for the same reason. If someone complains under the right topic, leave it open so people can add to it or maybe might help to resolve it.

Forum/chat mods:
Asking people politely to not do something goes farther then throwing infractions and bans around.
This makes your job so much easier. Because other players will help the polite mods to remind players of the rules. (whether a mod is present or not) Which cuts down on bans. And most players like to help either in the chat or the forums. This help answers a lot of the questions by players for players which cuts down the work for the mods. (remember you use to help people before becoming a mod).

Ok now for some bad examples of a mod (exotica), Now in all fairness Exotica answers a lot of posts, But also causes some of the problems.

About My Ban

Here, {TEN}*The_Flea*, Quoted a player (who used all caps) and informed him to post in the correct area. Exotica Quoted the same player and gave {TEN}*The_Flea* an infraction for quoting a player who was breaking the rules. My question is did Exotica give him/herself an infraction also? This cuts down on knowledgable players from helping in the forums.

Auction Is Not Fair For Every Player!!

The last three post are over one edited bad word. Btw thats called Hijacking a thread. But this thread was closed, glad to see it opened again. When you edit the user's post can't you just type at the bottom of his post that the word edited is not alowed in forums continued use will be an infraction? Insted of quoting his whole post assigning an infraction which he responded to and could not believe that word was not allowed. And another infraction point added. So now readers have to read this back and forth before getting back to the next on topic post. If anyone will want to post after this.

This thread was closed with no response but brings up a good idea: Pirate Storm > Pirate Storm - Users' Corner > Creative corner > Chat Bans

These forums are also the deadest forums I have ever seen. But I think with more warnings (which is in the forum moderator's responsibilies)and being polite. A lot of problems can be solved and more people will participate in the forums helping new players. Forums are still the best manual for playing games.

Btw am I the only one that thinks xXExoticaXx and 2high2care are inapproriate names for moderater? Just saying.

Can there be a way to make it so higher levels can't sink lower levels?! Its ridiculous how you can't go anywhere in this game and do quests without being attacked by a WAY HIGHER ranking player....

The auction system for now is suck. How can people bid on things when they have no gold to pay for it or just playing with it. And they can get away with that with no penalty. When people bid in the auction they really want to buy the items, and when they cannot or not willing to pay for it, the system should burn their gold let's say 80% from the price they bid on.

When i try to log in, i put in the correct username and password, and it re-opens the page with a new url, but, it shows me as still being logged out, when i clicked the forum button, it said thank you for logging in, but when i click the play button, nothing happens, why? it worked fine last night and im not banned i think
