Default Why is pig feed more expensive than pigs?

It seems that for several animals, the feed is actually more expensive than the animal itself. For example, pig feed is currently selling for about 100cc, but pigs are only selling for around 45cc.

So, why on earth would anyone buy pig feed? Am I missing something?

It's because of the Power feed. I think most people are making that instead of regular feed. So the prices go way up since mills are busy making Power feed.

I've been asking myself that same thing for a while, the only reason I can think is that some players only want to have animals and don't bother growing the ingredients for the feed.
I don't really complain since I make all my cc from selling feed. I don't even have cows and I made 100 feed for it today and sold all of it.

I think if will come colored pigs, then cost of pigs will be bigger. Until pigs are used only for filling farmhouse orders, they dont cost so much.

...i want colored pigs...

This makes sense. If a player has calculated that having all animals is more lucrative than a mix of pens & crops, then s/he would leave the responsibility of feed to someone else. Considering that one must grow the requisite crop(s) then mill it, the time savings must fit the player's cost-benefit matrix.

In my opinion, feed should be at a premium. The added time (as opposed to just growing a crop) should figure into the price. Whether or not any given feed should cost more than the animal itself, well, you only buy the animal once, yet it has the capacity to produce indefinitely. The feed is the cost of production.

Exactly, the reason its so high is because people aren't making it currently they are making either sheep feed or power feed or rabbit feed.

Even at max price it costs maybe 23 to make

1 apple 5cc
2 carrots 6cc
2 corn 12cc

but since no one is making it, those who are making it or who have some stock can sell it at high prices because if you really really really want pig feed, you can either do it yourself or buy it. Now, if your smart you won't do pigs at all while its more profitable to do sheep for a bit because of the high prices.

Take a pig break, prices are going to be very high until sheep and rabbits breed are out for a while, i don't expect other feed prices to drop anywhere down the road, at least a month or so. So if you want it really bad, you'll have to grow it yourself.
