I also have really enjoyed this event. Yes I did buy 100 or so chicken pens. The option was there to make money off it or to complete it in various ways. I believe I probably could have finished it if I was willing to take trouble/time to grow 6000+ chickens once someone pointed out that the soybeans were unnecessary (Woohoo!!!!!!!!!) This is one of the very few events since the artisan came out that I believe I could have completed and I am overjoyed with that because it was simply my choice not too.

What I fell in love with in this game was that while BB's made everything much faster and easier (as it should be) no parts of the game were "locked off". While that is obviously no longer the case, I give BP a huge round of applause for an event that did not require having CAC and Machinery to finish. Those who pay for machinery still had the perk of 6000 3-click chicken harvests they could do faster and easier, and those with CAC could enjoy the breeding feature more thoroughly. Obviously, I can't speak for them but I would have loved to have machinery for this event.

Edit: Should I put some more perpective on this... I am level 76 and also have the ability to check in on my farm for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week and still can rarely finish an event? Well wishes to those those with real jobs!

Here in Brazil we are loving this mission. And a friend had the idea of a permanent mission about this Russian Matryoshka chicken, , What do you think about it, could you post it in updates and ideas?
Good game for you!!!

Why doesn't the baby boom key unlocked in the magic tree work for this one?

This event is great! Players can take their time and have fun breeding, hatching, and growing...or it can be done quickly and players can move on to whatever they would rather focus on. I like that there is an endless number of strategy combinations that can be used to reach the end goal. It was so nice to be able to work on it one way in the beginning and change strategies and work from another angle at the end...that kept the event fresh. I vote for more events like this!!!

Ceteris paribus, this event rewards chicken breeders handsomely than it does to anyone who does the breeding of the special chickens. How on Earth did someone come up with such dynamics that you punish those who take part the event's route and reward those who take shortcuts???
I heard an ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain. Now I know some people like that...

Here's how:
Assumptions:
  • 2 players A and B.
  • Both have five 2x2 acres, five chicken coops, no buffs, no rune, no water, no manure, no CCs, no BBs.
  • Both start with 5 Soya Beans,
  • Chickens take 1h30m to raise,
  • Soya Beans take 5h to ripen,
  • Breeding takes 6h
  • A does chicken raising ONLY,
  • B does breeding,
  • Where times are not congruent A loses the time balance.

Now at start both raise chickens. After 1h30m both have 5 chickens.
  1. B then plants Soya Beans for Special Matryochka feed (5h)
  2. After 5 h A has had 3 chicken harvests (losses 30m to round off) and has 20 chickens in inventory
  3. B has 5 chickens and 30 Soya Beans (including 5 for the replenishment) and makes 2 Special Matryochka feed.
  4. B starts breeding. On the remaining acres B puts chicken coops.
  5. After 6h A has 40 chickens in inventory
  6. B has 2 Ballet Birds, 11 chickens, 5 Soya Beans (replenishment) and no Special Matryochka feed.

Values at hand:
  • A = 160 CC of basic Matryochka chicken.
  • B = 54 CC of basic Matryochka chicken.

Now where is BP making sure that events are easy without Buffs???

---
PS: If you want to be technical you will also see that the uplift after each breeding is a diminishing return. You put in x4 chicken value and you get x5 value after 6 hours? A mere x1 uplift? In a normal case the uplif needs to be above x10. Non breeding is giving x8.
As you approach the Monocle the return becomes x4.3. Surely makes no sense to breed beyond Cosmic...

I have really enjoyed this event. There are several ways of completing it (or not if you wish to take advantage of the items required in the market place) using the method that suits each best or a mixture of all.

I work shifts so sometimes I have lots of opportunity to harvest other times I am unable (or too tired) to do so. I have found that I have not needed to get online early morning (before work) or late at night (after work) so it has been less tiring for me.

I have mainly opted for the "easy" option of donating normal chickens and done a little bit of breeding just for the fun of it. I found that the breeding needed a lot more planning which is not my strong point. Usually mess it up somehow (like donating/using all the seeds and having to start again lol!). Also the time for growing the soy did not suit me due to my working hours.

All in all, a success, in my opinion, with less stress than usual and I think something for everyone.

*quiet voice* By the way, I should finish tomorrow! Yay!

I think many people lose sight of the fact that this is a GAME and it is supposed to be fun. I fully admit to more than my share of FOCD - when you set your alarm to wake up at 3am so you can harvest and replant in time to finish a quest... - BUT - that's my choice! Some people enjoy the breeding part of this quest - I am one of them - I think it's fun - but if you don't think it's fun, there's another way to do it - that's what makes this a great event! You can buy your way through if you've enough money, you can raise chickens or you can raise soy and breed. Something for everyone. I don't like the mentality of "what's in it for me?"that shows up repeatedly here. Now, I don't like when BP makes it so the event can't be completed without the spending of RL money - I won't participate in that - but even that is a CHOICE! It's a GAME people!

I really like this event. I'm only using 12 chicken pens and 1 field for soybeans and I am selling most of the chickens(made nearly $300,000 already) and I'm working on the 3rd stage.

I know I could have completed this if I put more effort.
