My normal bad luck ( in order)

Normals goats got me 1 speckled and 1 black (the best one)

Normal goats got me 2 normal 1 speckled

Normal goats got me 2 normal 1 speckled

Normal goats got me 2 normal 1 speckled

Trying to do black goats in the quest

I didn't need normal goats...I needed black. I had 70+ normal goats on friday

I'm all out of power feed

Has anyone ever got good results (I mean, significant jumps) by breeding level 1 animals, like speckled goats, brownies, roasters, brown bats and the like? I've been breeding intensely for a good bunch of months now and the only really significant skips I obtain are from normal animals, always.

But I can't complain, though. As an answer to laurayendle, what I really do is keeping track of results and their related total investment, so that to be able to calculate net gain (or loss). For doing so, I've given a 500 CCs symbolic cost to each piece of PF and I include in calculations the actual price you get if you buy each animal (basic, lvl1, 2, etc.).

My conclusion is that, unless you don't care about how much you'll spend in PF, higher level animals are almost unreachable just by breeding without investing amazing loads of PF, even taking into account those rare occasions when you get extremely good skips (like one I read before: 1 goldie from 4 normal chickens). I do care and that's why I keep track and analyze results: whereas you can get from market pretty much more than invested for lower level bred animals, somewhere in the middle of the scale prices suffer a deep inflection. As an example, you typically get 2K CCs per roaster and its related cost -with former assumptions- is now around 1.2K; but, for a goldie, typical price is around 6M CCs but related cost is 25M.

In other words, it's better to systematically save and buy higher level animals or light every available candle you may have to get a good skip rather than investing the loads of PF that would get you closer to one goldie. The other possibility: never ever attempt to get to high level animals.

That's why I really don't understand the effort many players do to get high level bred animals just to upgrade animal pens.... Not worth that effort, at all....

My advice: just breed level 0 animals; depending on the animal it is convenient to sometimes do it till levels 1 or 2, maximum. Enjoy the skips. Afterwards, sell in market the huge surpluses of lower level animals you'll get (lots of people buy them for breeding without realizing it's exactly those they should get by breeding, and buy the rest....). And with the higher level animals you'll get with a truckload of luck: decide what to do -sell and enjoy millions of CCs or dump them in unworthy pen upgrades (unworthy because you can buy with those millions thousands of animals of all kinds).

I hope it was clear enough.

Regards.

Thanks so much for all of that information. You have obviously put a lot of effort into all of the calculations. Im glad its not just me that seems to be getting nowhere slowly.....
Well I will keep plugging along, breeding the low levels and saving up for the higher ones in the market.....................thanks again.

I'm a little disapointed with the Goat breeding. I was very happy with the Pigs etc... Every time I breed it's all protocal with these goats, no skips at all and if I do get a skip, it's backwards! I've already breed aproximatly 400+ goats and I have one Rambo goat and one flying goat pen to show for it.

Haven't been able to do much breeding, had hardly any pf yet, but one of my neighbours bought loads of the biggest offer so I got around 16 pf's from that

I had one great jump: a milky way cow! Not sure if I got it from regular or brown cows though, but am really happy with it!
