Default High Damage?

How do people get such high damage? I don't get it. I am not weak, but I have just been beaten in the arena by someone two levels below in XP, 4 levels higher on the fame tree (which would account for 4%), and the best I can get on others is about 540 damage (critical), and this guy put three arrows into me at well over 1200 each..? How? (I'm Lv28)

Rubies. Better gear. Essence.

Essence is not so important anymore, but five polished rubies in your weapon gives you 50 damage extra right there, and with a good legendary wand that could be bumped up to an extra 75 damage just from five polished rubies. With all sacred, not that anyone has that kind of money, full rubies on weapon and decoration would be 250 damage, and 375 with a great legendary wand. They also probably have legendaries on the left side that together could give another 100 or more damage. Many of these people artificially stunted their level to get better gear.

Marked damage is obscene.... nothing to do with essences or rubies.

Yep, when you're marked, the precision shot does a ton of damage. Add in some good critical hit rate and boom, that's it.

Still, if the guy was hitting 1.2k damage he would have to have a base damage of 300 to 400, which is rather large at level 28.

Acccording to my calculations, a lvl28 ranger (lvl25 knowledge & 28PPvP) would need minimum, against a lvl24PvP player (+4% advantage):
- Longbow Ace Talent
- lvl26 green essence
- Lynx eye talent
- 100dmg in equipments

... to achieve 1200 precision shot on high crit dmg, without marking.

So question becomes: is it possible to get that much damage in equips ?

Now let's remove all damage equips, so this same ranger is shooting precision shot with only base dmg from his bow :
Precision shot now deals "only" 612-705 (with Oursach bow),

... then add +100% marking bonus ====> 1224 - 1410 crit dmg so yea....

Did you calculate defending armor in? That should bump up required base damage a bit. I was figuring if marked critical damage is 1200, and average armor for that level is 40 percent, then base damage is equal to 1200/2 for crit, /2.5 for marked presicion shot, /0.6 for armor, /1.15 for knowledge, /1.04 for fame difference. making base damage around 330(an estimate). Thats about 250 damage in gear, I think. So he would have had to havesome sort of gems on. I assumed that knowledge would be at 15, if it was 20 damage would be closer to 315, while at 35 it would be a bit under 300.

Good point indeed : target in my calculations had 0armor 0resist, my bad.
