If using a Longbow it would give you less shots per second however allows Concentration to build quicker and therefore allowing you to use Piercing Shot more often!

Again, this is just my personal opinion, if anyone can see fault with it, please bring it to my attention :]

no fault as to each their own for their playstle, my only comment is like some said shrotbow would allow you to get more precisions hots off to a netted/cced target, also i find it easier to keep targets slowed/poisioned with hunting arrow using a short..

altough the obvious short it does eat through conc a lot faster and your eally ahve to be good at managing your conc.

seems to me like...

shortbow-better cc/kiting/keeping target slowed
longbow- better single shot burst

i ahvent used a long in a while but hoping to get a extrao bonebow soon to give it a go again..

update..

finally got an extrao bonebow, along with crafted a legendary hard leather quiver.with longbow/quiver combo i can easily solo LL diff.the burst damage is very good as long as you ahve good damagre/crit on your gear.

so agian jsut my opinion
but from my experiences to 40 using both long and shortbows/shield and quiver combos in pve and pvp i find best for pve to be longbow/quiver, best for pvp shortbow/one or the other depends of your style.the shield is great for damage reduction but you take a major hit to your crit when running a shield.

Yes i disagree as well!! A longbow may deal more dam but in swarms of mobs Atk speed is key... my ranger is only lvl 16 but with some godly gearz and i just finished putting 5 perf gemz in a already nice arrow set!

5 perfect gems - that must have been expensive!!

Tried a short bow at lower level but eventually settled on long bow/quiver combo. Have tried a buckler too with both types of bow. It is all down to style of play and I've gone for big Critical Hit hence the quiver. Other bits of equipment I have also increase my CH. I sold a good long bow which had attack speed enchantment for one, which while slower, does more single shot damage. I've put a couple of gems in to up attack speed by a couple of percent (free drops). With a long bow I can pretty much guarantee 1 hit kills against NPCs a little lower than me and it only takes a couple to take out those of a similar level.

I play my SW similarly - wand and book - but with him I do have loads of Mana potions to allow him to blast away all day!!!

I haven't played a DW so would like to ask do they have an alternative to a shield for the off-hand?

I don't PvP so cannot comment on the benefits of one over the other.

As I said it's all down to style and it's a pity there aren't more colours to paint our equipment cos then we'd see who has style!!!!!!!!

i ahvent posted here in a while, now that im lvl 40 with both legendary bonebow/sniperbow i can give a better opinion in this matter.
************************************************** ************************************

i actually find it easier to take down big groups with a long vs a short.but easier in pvp wth a short.

with a short youll epend on hunting arrow/kiting more in pve since you drian conc fast but ahve better movement ,, vs a long u deopend on prec shot/big hits more at the cost of speed.

if you adapt to the long bow style youlls ee what i mean..

what i do is run around npcs in a circle, herd them up, drop a trap to hit them all with lights..now jsut blast through them with prec shot.

with a short yes you can fire faster and have better movement, but i feel beacuse of the lower damage i dont ahve the punch power to blast throguh huge groups with prec shot like i do with a long..i depend more on kiting and hunting arrow with a short.
'

again a lot has to do with random encants and gems as well.

its all preference tbh, i jsut find it easier with a longbow..maybe because i level all the way to 32 using a long, didnt tryout a short tilla round lvl 32ish..so i ahve a lot of time into learning how to sue a longbow properly.

i do like the short though, i love it for pvp!!dont get me wrong.it is a great bow and if used properly can be deadly in the right players hands.

ive just leaned more towards long recently and..esecially on big boss fights..with a long it is a LOT easier to manage your conc and max out your dps rotation using a long.

also wanted to add if your using a short i wouldnt put any speed gems into it, its fast enoguh by defualt.i would put either crit or damage gems in it, my personal choice is crit, to keep big prec shot hits going since it lacks the punch power like a long, but thats up to the player.

agian jsut my opinion, there really is no "best"
this could also apply to shield or quiver, its all preference for what u like more.

Daumen hoch The usefull of Shortbow

Since shortbow has fast attack speed..
i advice u to using any shortbow for dead swing and deadly blow attack only..
because deadly blow and dead swing wont using any concentration..
so if u focusing ur bow on attack speed better to using those both skill to reach constant damage for shortbow..
i use the shortbow for farming not for killing any monster on the same lvl as me or killing any bosses..

If the dev's want this weapon to be something worth considering, they have to make it better in some other way. Like making it consume less concentration per shot.
Pro Tip: Ingame pros prefer shortbows or longbows with decent atk speed )
The Faster you kill, the further you progress. GL

No, they do not. There is no dual wield option for weapons, just weapon and shield or two handed-weapon.

Unless you know how to manage your concentraion wisely, you'll end up epic with a shortbow even on PVE. Works best in PVP.

Default Longbow all the way

I'm definitely a longbow player as my strategy is hit harder not faster. With armor +, damage +, and crit+ as my only armor/weapon buffs (except for one speed buff on a unique item I have) I just wolf, net, and precision anything I fight with scatter/bird for cleanup.

The big thing is the wolves especially with the wolf/heal trait since the wolves have power based on your damage output. So speed won't make them any faster but damage will make them better and heal for more at lv40. In PvP that heal, with the heal upon kill fame ability, means I'm one player not scrabbling for a health orb especially with dive, dance, and adrenaline as my other 3 skills on the hotkey bar.

Just my 2 andermant in this discussion
