Auction channel for bartering. Cannot use anders, only gold to make purchaces from other players. This would give significant purpose to start. Quest items that can only be
acquired by questing that, either can bind to the player, or be sold on an auction channel. Housing or banking or locker storage that can only be paid for with gold.
These things could give gold some significant meaning, even to the point that you might just find people donating to get andermant to sell on the auction channel to acquire gold to be able to make such purchases. Win-Win situation. Not all of us can afford to donate, but the ones who can, can sell their anders. Great for balancing in the long run.
Great for pvp, great for admin, great for players great for all!
Anything worth having costs anders. Make gold relevant by giving it a purpose. If your goal is only to eventually make this a game for pay to play, then you are going the right way I guess, But, if you truly are looking to make something more, then
Give it a try and see if it works. It's still beta, and you can always change it later.
Cheers
Btw this is just a few of my own suggestions. Please anyone else who has ideas of how to make gold relevant in game please post. This does come up quite abit on the boards.
Cheers again

No my friend... cause then people buy the mini dragon and to get the phenix egg they just make another account, pass the mini dragon and then do level 15 in one hour, also getting 1 gold is quite easy so... it isn't that interesting... and also i think that bigpoint developers need the money, so instead of buying from a h.cker for 1 gold a super adermant set pay for the developers, they did their best for this game ;D

Maybe you missed my point there juan.
The way the game is set up now it has every potential to be "unbalanced" simply for the fact that some people can afford anders for real cash, some cannot.
I have seen this in at least one other game that I've played for many years to where you can "donate" to the game and get special credits only usable in specific stores.
thos credits can then be Auctioned on the auction channel for gold. It has significantly balanced the playablity of that game between payers and non payers. It was a simple fix that tremendously improved the game.
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read and post to this thread.
Cheers

I thought this game you can farm in-game for "Shop Points/ Anderment"?
1.having the trade system means, the dev will have to reconstruct the drop system.
meaning a class wont be gettings its own class items. that class will be getting other classes drops. it'll be pointless to have a trade system and you only get your own class item drops.
2. People Will start farming for uniques and sell for RL cash.
3.If Trade system ever gets introduced into DSO, Get ready to say HI to our GOLD FARMERS FRIEND

you are right my friend...the drop system is just fine think about it you only get uniqe items and normal items from your class you are in so there is no point in a trade system.
1)they will start to appear gold and items farmers to exchange for cush
2)the whole drop system will change and you will get and other class items
3)the gear farming in every lvl will be more and more diff
the whole idea is faill i bilieve...and there is not such a thing as a ''free game'' the whole reason the game is build is for fun and some cush...it's tottally reasonable the donate players be better for the free players if it was balance then there is no reason for the players to pay think about it...all the game is this way...if you want tottally balance game then go play wow but first pay 150euro for the CD's and 20 every 2 months

This is relevant. If andermant was tradable, DSO would go out of business from 3rd party websites that will sell to you for cheap! even if for some strange reason they didn't, eventually there would be enough anders circulating in the game that no one would buy them anymore, and then DSO would go out of buisness. If DSO makes trade possible in game, then it will have to be p2p.

i agree with this dude.. hehe, well perhaps those ideas arent exactly the best ones.. i dont have any better ones so dont take offense.. but, my point is better use for gold is a very good idea.. i know people who have accumulated hundreds and hundreds with no use for it.. I, being very weak for a level 40, use the coins that I have for green essence.. it helps a bit, so i havent accumulated even 20 gold... but if coins were actually useful for something that would make people sell items.. perhaps even anders if gold was THAT useful.. but I doubt they'd make it that useful otherwise it would become the new in-game currency.. soon andermant would be replaced by gold.. then perhaps people would say 'ohh. make andermant the in-game currency again..' and the so on until the cycle begins again :P i keep getting off the topic of my post. I just want to say that making gold useful is a good idea.. but it would have to be a relatively big update, like that guy said... 1 gold IS easy to get.. but just remember guy.. good things wouldn't just cost 1 gold.. probably 100s or 1000s to actually get something good... whatever.. gold would make more sense if it was actually useful.. also may i suggest getting coins is completely removed from surprise boxes? its ridiculous.. at least increase the amount.. i get like 20 silver.. wth..

oh i just read your post poop. i dont think they would make it p2p though, otherwise they would have to introduce a way to separate p2p from f2p... and its not really possible without an update.. since there are no features that are only obtainable as a p2p.. that would really suck btw.. like RS. if a trade system were to be introduced i think andermant shouldn't be a trade-able item. that way we get to keep drakensang as a f2p mmo that is absolutely our favorite :D

I have to disagree with almost everything you said. Firstly there are plenty people in each class.. theoretically 1/3 of everyone in the game is the same class as you therefore your drops wont be completely useless as they will be usable by another player. 'One persons junk is another's treasure' :P. Secondly, I'm sure the drop system is fairly general and easily manipulated. Perhaps its as easy as changing the drop rate of an item. (What I mean by that is, a Spellweaver may have Ranger or Dragonknight drops, its just that the drop rate of those items for a Spellweaver is 0%. If that is the case it will be really easy for the developers to change it. It happens all the time, with almost every update drop rates and such are changed. Also, I doubt Uniques will be trade-able. That simple. another thing... there are already gold farmers.. many people do coin rewarding quests to get some gold.. most do for teleports and green essence but if a trade system were introduced there would be many more gold farmers. And DSO really needs some more attention. What I mean is.. outside of forums there are VERY few websites that even mention DSO. If trade were introduced, DSO would take a huge step towards the attention it deserves. Mostly because people will make websites where they arrange trades, tell people about tricks to getting gold faster, write walkthroughs and even make videos to help people get items that they want or need. And I would like there to be more videos on other things beside PvP and boss killing.

I agree with the above post about DSO needing more publicity; I have been trying to introduce it to my friends but for some reason the invite thingy isn't working for me. On the other hand, I do feel like an auction system would be bad, going off of a certain major game's example. It is a wonderful experience to finally get that perfect legendary or unique or gem after farming/soloing forever, and having that perfect item just sitting there to be bought would devalue that. On the other hand, I at level 34 have amassed over 28 gold, enough for me to never take another gold drop ever and still be able to pay all my repairs and gem removals (these all cost around 2-4 sliver, compared to my 2800 silver).
Maybe all that extra gold/silver/copper could be used to buy pointless yet cool things, like dyes. Or other cosmetic items/changes that don't alter the way the game is already balanced. Dyes would be great, thay'd allow us all to look really different from each other, yet don't change a thing mechanically.
I personally don't want to see an auction house.
<<edit>> Been thinking about this, as it's a really good point...what to do with gold...
I hope they don't raise repair costs :) lol.
Maybe introduce in game gambling/raffles? For example, betting on PvP matches, and buying tickets for a chance to win andermant/items of the type only andermant can buy?
Maybe even gold to change the color of your spell/arrow/swing effects? (just brainstorming here)
Maybe introduce bribable NPCs? (backstories, perks, hints (some true, some false) etc?)
Maybe make all travel to locations you've been to previously coin based?
Slowly add in more styles of items, that is, more variety in garb, weapons, and shields? Again, no mechanical differences, just let in more culturally diverse gear. (A dragon knight who looks like a samurai would be fun. And you'd pay more to be stylish, like in reality.)
Just thinking and typing. Thanks for reading,

So sort of conversion to buy Anderment for in game money (gold/silver), judging by what certain items & CoTs cost in Ander something like 10 Ander for 1 silver might be fair, hard enough where Bigpoint will still make money yet the players trying to go free as long as they can will still get something out of it.

Gold is getting ready to become very relevant as mounts will be introduced and cost 10 Gold

And you will need ALOT of gold for the Knowledge Tree alone as talents get introduced. Gold is very relevant in game now, my main has over 200 now and it won't be enough as the game progresses. So I keep hoarding it because at one point I know I will run out and need more.
And not being able to trade ander for gold is going to make it harder to accumulate too. Kind of wish they had put that option in game but oh well.
