I second this UI. If i had to choose between all the changes the addition of extra hotkey bars would be my first choice.

If the UI gonna get changed, couse is now is pretty lame (my opinion). BigPoint will probably just copy a similliar UI from Torchligh* or Diabl* , like the current futures.

The above UIs also "borrow" from other games, you may wish to go and point that out..... although I suspect you have

Let me say to begin with, I don't believe the current UI is perfect so is in need of some improvement.

It would have been handy if you could have included a screenshot in your "design" to give a better perspective. Please take that as being constructive and not being critical of your effort.

What did I particularly like about your design?

1. The map position - in the corner is good. Also a slight redesign of the line colour would be even better - it can be difficult to view depending on the area.

2. Changing the colour of the Mana orb - I "count" my shots and should know when I'm getting low on Mana but sometimes you can't see how low because the background masks the orb.

What changes would I like?

1. Assignable hot keys - not going to happen unless every player downloads a redesigned client interface.

2. More hot keys - can happen but only need a couple. Nobody needs quick access to every skill they have. Read the posts - this skill is useless etc!!! Plus, do we really want to get to the stage where "at the touch of a single button" we can change our equipment - "quiver" to "buckler" or "book" to an "orb", "wand" to a "staff". Go into combat and live or die with your choice. I've played RPGs for nearly forty years and still don't understand how you can access a potion, health/mana/strength etc, without any penalty to your current attack speed/capabilities. Ooops, sorry, going off topic now. Don't get me started on Inventories!!!!!

3. My SW character has a couple of good non-line of sight attacks and often his ability to use them is negated because the skills bar at the bottom of the screen is in the way - I can't "see" the target. It would be nice to hide it to give more visibility.

Changes will be made I am sure but don't expect everybody to be happy.

Yes its similiar to about, what 11 games?
The layout works, Personally im a fan of the idea of being able to move stuff around. I know as a UI maker for WoW that some people play WAY different layouts then others.

But the followed are major problems

1. Chat box
It vanishes, which causes a lack of conversation and ultimately hurts the community

2. Map
Its in the middle of everything, very distracting, and cluters the screen

3. Action Bar
Its limited, which prevents us from putting more spells up. we have to limit our spell slots for hot-key'd potions.

OK here's my take,

-MAP: nothing really needs to be done here. Yes it takes up the whole screen. Also I hardly ever use it. The terrain/architectural features are very distintive in this game (nice work to all involved) in most areas. After running around Duria for a while now I usually know where I am. If I do get disorriented then I just turn it on for a sec, then turn it off and get back to it.

-SKILLBAR: Just needs to be stretched out to the sides and flattened a bit to allow for a few more hotkeys. Also flattening would allow more of the bottom of the screen to be seen in combat. Small skill icons showing cooldown somewhere near the top of the screen would be nice but after some pratice with you skills you should be able to sync the cooldown times in your head.
Also, remember the letter from Robin Henkys in the official anouncements section? The current dev thinking is towards more character customization by choosing which skills to use. Under this concept you would not need 18 skill slots. Just a few more so you don't have to choose between a skill or a potion being hotkeyed.

-CHAT: This is a "putting the cart before the horse" issue for me. Would rather have a working stable system in place first. Considering all the persistent problems with chat at this point I could care less what it looks like.

-XP BAR: This idea I like. Smaller and out of the way. At the top is good for me.

Luck be with ye,
