Default Drone Guide for Newbies

Hoping this will stick. :P

The first thing to know is that there are 2 types of drones;
Flax - The starter drone - Purchased for credits in the Hanger and contains 1 slot.
Iris - The elite drone - Purchased for Uridium in the Hangar or for credits in the Trade tab. Contains 1 slot.
A player can have a maximum of up to 8 drones, the type of ship does not matter. These drones can either be 8 Flax, 8 Irises or a mix. The prices of drones increase themselves as you continue to buy drones. The price of drones are as follows:
Flax:
1st drone - 100,000 credits
2nd drone - 200,000 credits
3rd drone - 400,000 credits
4th drone - 800,000 credits
5th drone - 1,600,000 credits
6th drone - 3,200,000 credits
7th drone - 6,400,000 credits
8th drone - 12,800,000 credits
Total cost for all 8 drones: 25,500,000 credits
Iris:

1st drone - 15,000 Uridium
2nd drone - 24,000 Uridium
3rd drone - 42,000 Uridium
4th drone - 60,000 Uridium
5th drone - 84,000 Uridium
6th drone - 96,000 Uridium
7th drone - 126,000 Uridium
8th drone - 200,000 Uridium
Total cost for all 8 drones: 647,000 Uridium

Also remember that if you buy 1 drone, the price of the other type of drone will not rise. For example, if you buy 2 Flax drones for 300,000 credits, then the price of an iris drone will remain 15,000 uridium until you buy one, it will not become 42,000 Uridium just because you already have 2 drones.
Drones are an expensive part of the game to invest in and could be very expensive if you lose your drones, it is recommended you have atleast a Nostromo before you consider buying drones. When you die, all your drones will receive a small amount of damage, when they receive 100% damage they will not function and must be repaired to function again. Drones cost 500 Uridium to repair and that price is halved if you are a Premium member. Because of these expensive repair costs it is recommended you wait until you have a fairly strong ship before buying Irises, this means that you should very wealthy on the credits side of in-game currency, so you can repurchase your Flax drones instead of spending your valuble Uridium on repairing them.
WARNING: The stronger ship you have in the game, the more difficult it will be to level up your drones. We will cover the levelling of drones below.
For a reliable guide on how to get started in the game and to not die frequently before you decide to quit, click on the link: http://en.board.bigpoint.com/darkorb...ad.php?t=42277
Note about drones: When you are using a Leonov, the X2 damage or X2 shields will only apply on the ship, not on the drones, this means that if you had a leonov with 5 Lf3 lazers on it, and 1 Flax drone with 1 Lf2 lazer on it, you would deal 1600 damage per volley when using X1 ammo.
The maths: 5 Lf3s=150x5x2=1500 1500+100(lf2 from Flax)=1600 damage per volley.
Levelling your drones
The Table which is used to calculate the experience is very complicated, so i will just represent text to show you what ship gives you points towards your drones depending on what ship you use:

I hope this information helped the new players out there playing DarkOrbit. This is my first ever information thread and i plan to make more but i will plan to improve them as it guide is not perfect. There are many different ways to purchase and use drones which suit different peoples' tastes, so i didn't add a guide to buying your drones. If you have any suggestions on improving this guide please let me know, any constructive criticism will help me alot.
if you want to find me on DO I am on the UK Server User ID: 54653552
Peace!

Very nice

Here you have pictures of each drone level:

  • IRIS - from level 1 to level 6

  • FLAX - from level 1 to level 6

you dont repair your drones when they are at 100%..they cant be at 100% once they hit 98%(iris) or 97%(flax) you pop one more time and you lose it

Just a little more info don't buy all your drones at once.

Reason you can only repair your drones with a repair credit ot 500 uri.

8x500= 4000 uri plus if you have a elite ship the venge/goli and the noob ship the leo. That is 4500.

Best to buy 1 or 2 drones at a time so you don't have to have a great deal of uri in stock to repair your drones (or in the event you forget to repair them). This way you have a buffer of a few days to get the uri needed.

This is true, but then if you bought them at different times, you wouldn't know which is which and when you bought certain ones. If you don't have enough uri to repair your FLAX, let it pop, because they can be bought back with credits. Now with iris i would rep it, it is the key to your success in the game. As i was qouting, if you buy them all at once, them they get to 97% / 98%, you can box in 2-1 till you have the amount of uri needed.
