Hey, I was just wondering what happened to my account. I stopped playing this game about two years ago and every once and while when im bored i decide to play it a little. so tonight i tried to log on and it wouldn't work. so i used to i forgot my password option and i received a email with my account information. as i looked at my account info it looked weird like my username was different and my password. so i logged on and i had to pick a company so i picked eic and when the home screen came up it said i was a phoenix and level 1 when originally i was a level 16 Goliath. this is very disappointing. i don't know if my account got banned or what. i really want some clarification. it still says im a user from 2008-07-08 and heres my id 6361164
I can see that it is a level one, however due to the terms of use, it is been inactive for longer that 4 weeks. The computer gradually starts to terminate the accounts after so long the are permanently deleted. From what I am gathering you account appears to be just short of deletion.
If you don't play it that is your choice, but it is part of the Terms of use.

but that doesnt explain why i am level 1 and a phoenix. and im still getting emails from darkorbit greeting me from my original name BaRtMan™ and not pimptoes1.
I am really sorry but I cannot give you the answers you seek using the tools at our disposal. I have run a search for the original username you claim was attached to the account and can find no record of it, this either means it was deleted OR the account name was changed.
I then ran a search on the user ID you gave, this gives us a level 1 phoenix account registered in 2008 that has been moved from "hold" status back to "active" on 2012-07-16 21:53:35. I presume that this was when you logged back into the account after it was inactive for a long period of time. This account shows no record of the name ever being changed on the tools I use.
I can only assume that the account content was recently cleared from the system and when you logged back in it gave you the opportunity to start a new ship on the original account ID.
Unfortunately there is no way of restoring the old account information ie the ship and equipment that you had once it has been cleared from the system. All that would remain is the actual account ID number (and that only for a short period of time before being totally purged) You just happened to log in between it being cleared and finally deleted hence you find yourself in the situation we see here.
I really dont know what to suggest, Support will give most likely give you the same answer and that is that once deleted accounts details are not recoverable, but you are of course free to contact them anyway. We really cannot do anymore for you here in the forum.
Thanks for the clarification. but what if i was a paying customer and i spent money on this game and then one random day i logged on to see that all my stats and stuff were erased. that wouldnt be fair but its whatever
Im Afraid that the terms of service clearly state that once an account has been inactive for more than 4 weeks it may be deleted. In darkorbit we dont switch an accounts status to inactive until it has been unused for 4 weeks. That gives an 8 week window in which players need to login to safeguard their accounts, Normally this is when an email is sent by the system asking you to come back to the orbit, it is only a minimum of another 4 weeks after these emails are sent that an account may be deleted if still not logged into.
I have to say that DO is pretty lenient on this particular rule, there are other games that will delete your account on day 29 (Damoria being one) irrespective of how much you payed into the account. The only safeguard is premium. This again is set out in the terms of service
I can appreciate that you may feel that its unfair but it is in the Terms and conditions that you agree to when you sign up to the game and with regards to other BP games we do give quite a leeway.
