View Full Version : Goliath Nerf
There is no way a Goliath Battlecruiser should be able to keep up with a Vengeance Starfighter.
The engines on the Goliath need to be nerfed, the most an engine should give one is 7. This is due to Inertia, and due to the fact that a ship with 15 turrets and 16 drones can keep up with something smaller than it.
Just seems wrong, and way overbalanced.
**EDIT**
Sorry, i've been informed that a ship can only have 8 drones. My bad. ^^U

Just remember if they have a Goliath with 15 elite Engines they have a speed of 450 or 540 with Promerium boost and 8 drones
A Vengeance with 10 Elite engines has a speed of 460 with a boost to 552 with 8 drones.
My point is, the advantage of having a starfighter as opposed to a battlecruiser is speed. Starfighters lack in the firepower bracket, for which a battlecruiser is optimum. Therefore, the only real tactic a starfighter could use is hit and run. That tactic wont work in the least if the most speed i can have over a goliath is 12 points.
That being said, whats the point of having different starship classes if the only ship a player will have any success with is a Goliath? Each class should have it's pros and cons.
PS. How do drones help speed? They can't equip engines.
Okay, I just want to clarify what this thread is about.
Each ship should have their pros and cons:
Starjets
Fastest speed
Lowest HP
Lowest Dmg
Starfighters
Average Speed
Average HP
Average Dmg
Battlecruiser
Lowest Speed
Highest HP
Highest Dmg
These stats include generators. A Goliath with a full set of +10 engines would still be moderately slower (at least 30-50 points difference) than a Vengeance with full +10 engines.
These are, of course, in respect to the different ships in each class. A Defcom would have less stats than a Vengeance, but would still be at least as fast, if not faster, than a Goliath. Or it could be the opposite. As you move upwards of the different ships of each class, they become a bit slower, but have more HP and Dmg.
Also, the different effects of upgraded materials should have different effects on each class. A Starjet would only get maybe 5% advance in weapon power, where a Big Boy would get the full +15% to theirs.
This new system would make it so you could choose your ship class with what kind of tactics you like, and not make you have to choose a Goliath over all other ships just to be competitive.

I think it is fine the way it is. They game creators have done a good enough job differenciatting the ships. The GOliath is the strongest ship in the laser and hit point department. It also has good speed. However, it cannot keep up with a Vengeance that has full engines, and promerium boost.
The Vengeance is a wonderful ship. It has good weapons, and generator slots. Great speed, and good hit points. The next best thing to a Goliath.
The Big boy is in it's own right a good ship. Good weapons, and generator slots, with good ep. Almost as much as a Goliath. However, it is very slow.
Etc. Etc.
My only thing is the fact that a big boy gives more ep, honor, etc. than a vengeance does. Considering that the Vengeance is an elite ship, it stands to reason that the Veng, would give more than any other ship except the Goliath.

This is wrong. If you look at the calculations another user posted above, a Vengeance is only 12 points faster than a Goliath maxxed out.
12 points is not a "substantial" amount at all. I've been shot down plenty of times because a Goliath has been able to keep damaging me across the map when I run, because of this "substantial" difference in speed, even with a full promerum upgrade. This is a waste of what could be a very competitive starfighter.
This must be changed to higher than 12 points.
I guess im just going into tactical advantages too much. People who play this game probably rely on firepower, not any tactics.

I have both a elite goli and elite venge and the fact is some players with golis can outrun me. High level players I can't even keep up with even though my venge is a lvl 14. I have raced lvl 15 and 16 golis and we are dead even. Certainly I would never get out of laser range. Thus the venge loses it's edge.
I agree that the speed needs to be increased, I have adjusted configs to get as much as I can and I can't hit and run.
PS : I running all elite gens with gold rock on everything.

I have run into that problem at times as well, for the most part it is a game glitch, which allows a Goliath to keep up with a fully elite veng. or let's a goliath get away from a full elite vg. Other times it is just the users computer lagging, due to so many people or aliens in one spot. Other times, it is because the player you are chasing, or being chased by, has found a way to cheat. I made a thread once, and was told some of it was because I am on global server but in america. Not sure about that, but. Also, keep checking your config. sometimes, I accidently have the wrong config, and they get away from me. It does happen. But, I am by no means an expert.
