View Full Version : game slowdown after the first few minutes
from caleban userID 41739877
when first starting up the starmap to play the game i get a fantastic 30 fps and everything works brilliantly
after a few minutes the game slows down to 5 or 6 fps and stays there, occasionally dipping to 2fps when there is a lot of action.
does anyone technically minded or familiar with the mechanics of flash know what is happening?
i am reasonably technically minded and have tried several things to fix it including defragging swap file.
i have 3.4ghz dual core intel 2gb ram and 1gb geforce graphics card (so i shouldnt have any problems really, i strongly suspect a caching problem with flash?)
thanks for any help you can give me!

Hi there,
Please try running tests on your connection to see if your internet is performing ok:
Test 1 - Speed test (http://www.speedtest.net)
Test 2 - Quality test (http://www.pingtest.net)
When the tests have finished, simply copy the forum link(s) and post them in here so I can see where the problem lies, if any.

Hi again,
Those results look good to me, the bandwith could be slightly higher I guess but that is no big problem as what you are using should be enough.
It does seem strange that you are getting lag after doing all of the above, as if you increase the amount of storage allowed to be stored on your PC that should keep the game good for longer.
I would be guessing that you are not running things that take up bandwith or CPU usage such as MSN, GSC, TS or a media player?
Also, when you are experiencing this lag, is it when you are in a certain area (say GG) as when surrounded by more NPC's or action it would be typical for a slight increase in lag as more data is needing to be transferred.

hi, i suffered the same problem with my FPS dropping very low after a few mins, i tried all that was recommended by support without any success. However then i remembered that a few months ago i read on the forum that a moderator made a post about cleaning the dust from the computer and graphics card inside. A friend of mine and my partners who knows about computers came and performed the same task for me which solved the problem. I asked a friend to do this for me as i did not feel confident enough to do this and was afraid of damaging my computer which i would strongly recommend if you do not feel confident to it.
hope this helps to solve your problem
