Unglücklich Questions about being attacked

Background:
So I'm pretty new to Damoria, made my account just before Christmas and so far I haven't really done much, except level up buildings. I made an alliance with a friend who made an account at the same time, instead of joining an already existing alliance. Other than that I don't know anyone in the game.

About a month ago I logged in and noticed the top of my page was orange and I was being attacked. Not by any person close to me on my map, but by someone random over a day away from me. The random guy had loads of points (42 million) and as I would notice once he arrived he attacked one of my castles with about 2-3 million troops.

Now my main castle has just above 1 million points and I certainly don't have millions of troops to defend castles with, so he won and got my castle. And then he went for another one of my castles, and got it. And then a third one. And then someone else that seem to be unrelated to him (not same part of the map, not same alliance, but also days of travel away and lots of points (36 million)) attacked a 4th castle and got that. And now this random person number 2 is going for a 5th castle.

From never having anyone attack me I am now being chain-attacked from random people from other parts of the map, that orange top is basically all I see now.

Questions:
Is there some breakpoint of points where people will see you as prey and start attacking you? - Like while I had less than a million points on my castles they didn't attack me because there was no point, but any castle round 1 million points is a good target to hit so that is the reason they are going for me now?

Is this common, do all players get attacked as frequently and I was just lucky to not be attacked until now?

Is the only way to avoid being attacked to join a big alliance? Is the reason I'm being attacked that I'm not in one?

Is there some "Hi i want to be attacked" button I have accidently clicked that lights up a KICK ME sign over my castles? If so can someone tell me how to unclick it?

What should I do when being attacked by people 30 times as strong as me? What's the tactic? Just let them get your castle, and move all military and resources away from that one. Or try to defend? I tried to defend and moved all armies I could and lost them, so now I just have a few thousand armies. It seemed there was no chance to defend against people with so many troops.

Will me asking these questions on this forum basically admitting I know nothing about the game, and saying I have no army left make me get even more attacks? I guess I already know the answer to that one. Sigh.

Are you asking because you intend to attack too?

To attack players without an alliance is maybe common on some Damoria servers but not on England Server ;-).
You should join a big alliance to grow and expand your kingdom.
Other players in alliances want to get bigger as well and built a lot of troops. They do not want to waste their time and also want some action.
They use every opportunity to get bigger and also attack players without an alliance because these players do not have any protection or diplomatic connection.

Ask yourself what you would do if you are in the same situation...That is a "click" game with an attack button... some players are using it because it is one of the action buttons here

I understand attacking others is part of the game, and obviously attacking those of lower level (less points) than yourself means you're more likely to win. What surprised me was how I went from never having interacted with another player to having 2 random players (seemingly not knowing each other) chain-attack all my castles. I thought there was maybe a underlying reason as to why there were so many attacks at once, from random people from far away on the map.

Like maybe it's usual that castles of a certain point-interval are more interesting to attack because of whatever reason (enough loot to make the trip worthwhile, yet not superhigh level on the walls, maybe?). If so I'd like to know this interval, or whatever the usual tactics are, so I know when to be on my toes and when to breathe a sigh of relief, so to speak.

Maybe I was just lucky earlier not being attacked, and it was just accidental that 2 people attacked at pretty much the same time. I just wanted a second opinion really.

Points don't really matter that much, obviously, the bigger your castle gets, the more attention it gets. You don't have to join a mega alliance, but it's recommended if you want to have a chance to grow and build up your troops. The 2 players might know each other, or maybe just a coincidence.

Once your castles get to a size where they are worth taking they will likely get unwanted intention (at the point where it is worth someone spending the Deed of Conquest).

Best solution? Just join a good sized alliance that is ideally bigger and stronger than the one the people who are attacking you are in!

You are just prey to the bigger players if you are only small and only in a small alliance with no diplomatic relations.

Good luck!
