Official Developer Statement
We know the past few weeks were confusing and we surely didn’t communicate on smaller changes within the game. Now we would like to explain some changes and provide you a small overview about the plans for the near future.
What’s going on in our galaxy?
Some of you might have seen some press articles about changes to the Bigpoint office in San Francisco and Bigpoint in general. Yes, currently some changes will be made here at Bigpoint, but at this point we want to clearly point out: Battlestar Galactica Online’s development will be continue to be fully supported.
We are in a process of “moving over” the complete game development from San Francisco to Hamburg. As you might know, this is a critical processs, and we need to ensure you won´t be affected while playing the game as usual. We will work to ensure the servers are stable, end unexpected downtime, and eliminated server late that might negatively affect your gameplay. We currently plan to have the move done by January 2013, then complete game development will be located in Hamburg – Germany.
Will this affect my normal gameplay?
No. Our main goal is to obtain a stable game environment to all our users. We won´t move any platforms or servers, we just re-locate all the game development from San Francisco to Hamburg.
Due to the effort invested by both sides (San Francisco and Hamburg) to have a stable and smooth transfer, it is possible we may need to delay some BUG fixes or planned features till the move if complete.
What will change on Battlestar Galactica Online?
Everything and nothing. We have plans for future changes. For example, we plan to have a weekly updates and patches, and communicate patch/release notes to you beforehand. There will also be content updates, new features, and bug fixes on several areas of the game.
You might see some surveys in your language forum within the next weeks. This will also be the next step for BSGO. We want to decide together with you what next features are needed, and we want to know what you want first! This will be highly relevant to our game development and planning.
We hope this has helped you understand the situation a bit more effectively. We are working diligently to have the move done quickly, so we can get back to business delivering your highly needed changes, updates and bug fixes.
Have no doubt, we won’t rest until this move is complete, and we are listening to your voices on all language forums. Our Community Management and Customer Service Team is still in place and will ensure every voice is heard.
