Also, to try and collect individual mine data for each system would be a laborious process.

Outposts, however, are still key. They show a system's general status, and take into account the mining done to gain the OP.

Any further thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

---Would agree with both of about the mine data,, But Regardless of the amount of mines in any given system ,, It does show how many systems are be mined and by whom,,I think the terminology could be changed maybe but showing number of systems being mined and by who does have its merits in so as it a good indicator of pop. at that given time,,IE Saying this 4 Col sys/ 2 Cylon sys indicates one thing while saying this 4 Col systems/ 10 Col mines------2Cylon systems/ 3 Col mines indicates something quite different,, <<<as a example/// Perhaps calling it would Faction System Mining would be more to the point and/or would indicate its a count of systems being mined by whom and not a mine count of each system,, Just a thought

Thanks for the input Walker. After having time to think about it more, I agree that it does mean something to be able to hold mines in numerous systems. Especially since both sides are hell bent on popping them.

Let's take an extreme example: one faction holds 5 total mines in one system, and the other holds 5 total mines in 5 systems. Does this indicate anything about population? Is there simply too much mine turnover to be considered?

As you suggested, I have renamed (corrected) the mine data to simply say "systems with Col/Cylon mines". Since this is an accurate description, I will go ahead and continue to report it. Does it lend any useful data to populations? I would like both factions to discuss.

--- Well I could make a argument for both sides,,But the Name correction,,would limit any argument for not showing systems with mines..As said before One side may have 5 mines in one system and the other have 5 mines in 5 systems,,,,Holding 5 mines in one system is one thing and holding 5 mines in 5 systems is another and as you said turn over being a consideration ,but these counts are a sampling or example of what is going on at the time of count and wouldn't really mean a whole lot taken singularly,,But your idea of a continued watch of systems changes that, For when you look at several counts or examples you start to get a real good idea of whats going on average over a period of time----One does not say its a 110 degrees with a 10 mph wind from north east in Arizona in all of July , because thats what it was on one day in July,, One comes up with a average from looking at those figures over entire month of July
