Default Newbie protection period

One of the biggest problems is the fact high level players kill newbs just for sport or to be mean and obnoxious.
This usually results in the newb rage quitting before they even get a chance to really play the game other then leave the safe sectors and SPLAT!!.
How do you prevent this from happening well why not have a 5 day or reaching level 10 newbie protection period where they cannot be attacked by other players but cannot launch attacks on
other players aswell.
Also during this period newbie players can only have mines inside the protected sectors this way it keeps the game balanced as far as you wont have newb pilots exploiting thewir protection period as far as spamming mines everywhere.
Well anyways i think if you guys institute a protection period like this for new players this will gain more players in the game who will actually stay and not rage quit because a level 100 keeps killing them just for sport.

I too believe BSGO needs a newb protection period.

Yes, wrap all noobs in a latex sleeve until they hatch into pretty butterflies until level 20.

I bet you're one of those that will probably put a crawling helmet on your kid.

If so, as soon as they reach level 11, wouldn't the newbies demand more and further protection because hey, they just now started with pvp. Big mean guys will kill them and that must not be right... right?

The only thing one lose from dying is a bit of titanium. And often one die, while not actively searching for kills, because they are not careful. Read the fleet messages about where are the camps and where are the fights. Avoid those if you so wish to. Keep your eyes wide open. Always. Stay. Alert. And learn with every encounters, all of them.

They already have protection, they are just not told about it.

Level 10 is arbitrary. What's a level 11 going to do other than get themselves killed? I am personally in favor of a number of level-capped systems with progressing levels, such as a cap of 10/20/30/40 where low levels can go fight each other. I am not in favor, at all, of the various invulnerability schemes that have been proposed. It is simply too disruptive to the rest of the server and doesn't help anyone.

My theory is that the sooner you can get someone out there killing others, the better the chance they will stay around.

BTW, I have a hard time believing that a level 100 is killing <10's for sport, and if they are, well, they're going to keep killing them as soon as they come off of protection.

Nailed it. No matter what the "cutoff" is, once they're valid targets they're going to squeal. The sooner they get spanked and start squealing, the sooner they'll hitch up their big boy/girl pants and stop squealing...or quit.

The only thing a free pass will do is delay the inevitable.

again MBS beats me to the punch.

This game is a case of Darwinism. Where only the strong survive. That doesn't mean weapons, though it might happen if the lowbie has deep pockets.

Strong can be strong of will/heart. A dire refusal to lay down and die but to pick themselves up and try again till they get it right.

Kind of people i want to fly with and against...Only the Strong.
