This IS just a game right?

Kind-a bummed out a little.

A couple of weeks ago I was asked to join a wing. I thought, Cool, this will be fun. ( keep in mind I'm still a newb, lvl13 for the past week or longer)

I noticed last night that I am no longer in the wing I joined. Glitch in the game I thought. I saw a former wing-mate and talked about it. He said it looked to him that I was out of the wing. He said it was probably due to lack of participation.

I have seen fellow, former, members race up the lvls in a single day! I just don't have that time.

I have two jobs, a family and a real life to keep going. I also do most of the car repairs when its not 20 degrees out. This game is not going to be a priority. I usually play late at night, when I have some "free" time. I realize it is every wing commander's prerogative to establish membership criteria, but plz, its just a game. I was enjoying being able to be 'invited' from across the system and share in rewards with a group or participate in an OP assult. Guess I'm just too much of a slacker. I'm even out of the wing's website now.

Guess I'm back to dropping dots and being ignored by large assault groups. WTF?

Please correct me if I'm wrong about this being just a game, and we really are saving the universe every night. I'll be the first to stay on line 24/7 and piss off my entire family to stay in a wing!

Just a game, right?! ( I here by apologize if any one was offended or traumatized by stating openly that this is just a game)

You answered your own question about this being a game - but then seemed to take the side of it being more than a game when you got upset about being kicked out of the wing.

Some take it serious and it is more than a game. Some don't. Some spend lots of money and some don't.

Just find another wing - there are plenty of casual wings out there.

Yep your right it IS just a game ! unfortunately for you it seems like you joined a wing that take things a lil too seriously , don't let that experience put you off wings as a whole though , there are plenty of other wings out there who see things the same way as you do . I have had the good luck to find a wing on kobol that , even though all its members do not play all the time , think like I do and mainly get together to have a laugh and enjoy ourselves , in fact a lot of the time I will be sat at my keyboard crying with tears of laughter over some of the comments wing members have written in chat .

Finding the wing that is right for you can take some time in this game , but the best thing to do is not to worry too much about the actions of others and go about having as much fun as you can , sooner or later you will meet players who are like minded and even if you are not in the same wing ,more often than not when you have become friends you will find that as soon as you sign in they get in touch and ask you to squad up with them .This has happened to me in the past on another server , I was in one wing but went to help out another player ,who was in another, when I saw they needed some help , we then began to fly together for the night and from that point on every time we came online we teamed up and had fun .

Like I said the trick is to find players who are like minded , they are out there !!

As far as leveling up and gathering resources goes you do not have to be part of a wing to be good at this , there are plenty of threads on this forum that give tips on how to make good progress, however the best advice I can give you as a relatively new player is to grind rocks and NOT plant mines , you can get far more resources and have an easier time of it grinding than you will ever do by planting a mine and by doing so ,sending up a big "here I am come and kill me " sign on the system map

Most of all have fun , this game can be very good for the solo player as you can sneak about and "gank" other players before they spot you , whereas when part of a wing you have more of a chance of being spotted when you fly together .Just enjoy yourself and you will soon find that in doing so that attracts other players to you ,who want to get a part of all that fun you are having !!

some people can't help themselves, and get a little too in to it. I reckon put up you server and faction and you'll get offers from people glad to have you. I do recommend getting voice commas though for the wing you join. Most will use either TeamSpeak 3 or Ventrillo.

You don't need to join a wing at your level. When you have little time to log on, level up on npc. When i was at your level i did a lot of solo work and i still solo most of the time. Make sure you habe a plan on what role you will take. Since your time is limited i recommend staying in your strike or at the most going with an interceptor or multi role escort.

Good advice...If you are on the Libran server...Would be glad to have you join the LCDP wing..Great bunch of folks and we have fun turning toasters into debris fields.
