the hel is not a solo ship.
in fact, solo hels are particularly targeted by almost everyone.

i use my adv hel as fleet support.
2 lr and 2 sr crits along one side and pd/flack on the other with a lr missile just to keep strikes moving. enemies will notice this and attempt to stay in your blindside which is why you really need a squad for the hel to support.

2 damage buff, 1 avoidance buff, 1 damage debuff for that particularly powerful enemy and 1 speed buff or a scanner or avoidance debuff depending on your preference.
your buffs will work on all friendly ships within 1000 so make sure you are in a good central position when you use them and check first to see what buffs are running already as most lines have damage buffs themselves. buffs do not stack so using both damage at the same time, especially while someone else's is running, is a waste.

i use a hp and a repair in hulls, an avoidance in engines and the slide is best used after a friendly strike speedbuffs you. let them know you have a slide and only ask ONCE (dont beg or bug) in /sg for passing strikes to buff you on op bash runs.

The Point defence guns are a rapid fire "area of effect" weapons. You do not need to target one enemy ship, cause will auto hit every one of them inside their fire arcs and max range that is 500. They do few dmg so are more useful against missiles thanstrikes.
The flaks guns are the same but their area of effect is between 500 and 1k from your ship, they more dmg and so can be useful against strikes too.
The pd and the flaks guns use their specific ammos that u can find in the store.
