Hello, I have come across a big planetiod with alot of the yellow stuff.

Its already got someone else mining and its from the same side. Any chance I can mine on that aswell and how do I mine? I want to mine big rocks.

If there is a mining ship already on a planetoid you can not mine it. You'll have to scout around and scan other planetoids for resources. If you want to maximize your chances get in a group and have several mines going at once

if the ship is from the enemy's faction, go and pound on it until it's dead. then scan the planetoid again and plant your own mine there

As noted, you can-not mine if a mine is already planted. However, if it is an enemy mine, feel free to destroy it and plant yours. Do understand they might be by to repay you sooner than you might like.


Regarding friendly mines:
I do highly discourage what has become for too common, begging the other faction to kill the mine so you can plant... (yes it happens) or pulling an enemy npc to the mine and letting it kill it for you. (this happens alot and is even more revolting).

But!... if you are colonial go for it. You can never trust humans...
